In an age of ubiquitous jazz formations often laying claim to reinventing the wheel, the Lukas Diller Quartet has the audacity of simply being an outstanding jazz quartet featuring a traditional line-up. Not only is the combination of alto saxophone, piano, upright bass and drums timeless, the group’s original compositions also transcend a feeling of timeless jazz classics. While confidently grounded in the tradition of jazz, the quartet uses its command of the language as a jumping off point for its explorations in the contemporary space. The Lukas Diller Quartet celebrates modern jazz with inspiration, wit and energy. All band members contribute aspects of their strong personalities to the powerful, always transparent overall sound - the prerequisite for "grandiose interplay and excellent dynamics" (Süddeutsche Zeitung). Alongside the individual virtuosity of each band member, a powerful and unique dynamic has evolved through sharing the stage together for many years, including their studies at the Nuremburg Conservatory of Music or from the Bavarian State Youth Jazz Orchestra.
